The Betty Strong Encounter Center, the new 10,000 square foot expansion of the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, presented a unique opportunity for Thompson Electric to provide creative installation solutions of power, panels, fire alarm, lighting and control systems.       The Encounter center was created to serve as a cultural complex on the Missouri Riverfront that will showcase living history; programs and exhibits about people who have come to this area from every part of the globe and the land that has sustained them. The completed expansion includes a gallery, a 100-seat auditorium, activity room, restrooms and areas for outdoor events, along with an enclosed connecting “pathway” to the interpretive center.  When the expansion was proposed, the community knew that the design and structure of such an addition would have to be very unique.  Cannon Moss Brygger and Associates successfully met the challenge by creating a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind building they consider “both physically and visually adventurous”, and in harmony with the area’s landscape.   As you would expect in any facility designed to display and educate, providing for ease of use, quality lighting, longevity and creativity was crucial.  Thompson Electric developed a detailed plan to provide out-of-the-ordinary installation solutions to maintain the character of the building, while working with the very unique design and construction components. Just as the architect, the electrical engineer and the general contractor met their challenges, so did Thompson Electric Company.  Unique lighting, in a unique structure demands a unique contractor – Thompson Electric Company.
